Name: Wil Pearce
Age: 19
Birthplace:  Glendale, California

I have been around music since I was born.  As a kid, I used to dance naked on my parents bed to old Amy Grant records.  I guess you could say that music was in my blood.  Growing up, I was always fascinated when my dad played the banjo, and would sometimes beg him to bring it out and play.  Later on down the line, when I was eight years old, I got into playing the drums.  I continued to play drums for church services and so on.  Now, I continue to have an interest in the drums, but have not focused on them lately.  At age 12, I began to play the guitar.  My interest for guitar came around Christmas time when I had broken my thumb.  Since my right arm was unavailable to play the drums, I decided to try to play guitar.  From then on I have tried to study a lot about music and the guitar.  I still have a million years to go before I get at least one good solo out there, but I feel it is something worth pursuing.  Overall, I will continue to pursue drums, guitar, dobro, and mandolin until I die.  They are all wonderful instruments.

I really like playing in a band with my family.  Every family is different and each one has their own way of spending time together.  With our family, we play music.  What’s nice is that we all share a common goal, which is to become excellent at our gifts given to us by God.  This is definitely encouraging to me because I know that I am not the only one who wants to be excellent.  We are all pushing each other to higher standards.  Although it does get intense sometimes, we have fun and find something to smile about at the end of the day.  I think I would prefer to be in a band with my family rather than a band with friends.  In a family band it allows time for more practicing and perfecting songs.  I know that at the end of my life, this will be an accomplishment and a blessing far greater than I expected.

Bio Questionnaire:

Favorite Food: My favorite food would have to be sushi.  I love the texture of the fish and the way that the rice is prepared.
Favorite Drink:  My favorite drink is Diet Coke with Splenda.  I like this drink because I can limit the amount of lard that attaches itself to my body, and the amount of bad chemicals that I put into my body.
Favorite Color:  My favorite color lies between Black and Pink.  Pink, although thought as feminine, is nice for a change to wear.  Black, although associated with more rebellious types of attitude, is worn to make me look thinner.  It’s kind of an optical illusion.
Shoe Size:  My shoe size is 11.
All Time Favorite Album:  Well, this comes to a difficult decision for me.  So, I’ll organize it by genre.
Classical:  Music For Two, by Bela Fleck and Edger Meyer
Bluegrass:  The Telluride Sessions, by Strength In Numbers or The Bluegrass Sessions: Tales From the Acoustic Planet, by Bela Fleck… or Brand New Strings by Ricky Skaggs
Jazz:  Kind of Blue, by Miles Davis or Works 1, by Pat Metheny… or One Quiet Night by Pat Metheny
Fusion:  Stressfest, By Steve Morse or High Tension Wires, by Steve Morse or Any of the Bela Fleck and the Flecktones albums
Rock & Sub-Genres:  Undecided
Blues: Tiger Walk, by Robin Ford
Vocal Bluegrass:  Lonely Runs Both Ways, Alison Krauss & Union Station or Carry Me Across The Mountain, by Dan Tyminski
3 Favorite Bands:  Again, this is a difficult decision as well.  So, I’ll try to stick close to 3.
Fusion:  Bela Fleck and the Flecktones or Steve Morse
Bluegrass:  Alison Krauss & Union Station, Nickel Creek, or Anything with Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, Tony Rice or Mark O’Connor
Jazz: Miles Davis, Pat Metheny, Charlie Parker, or Norah Jones
Vocal: Colbie Callait, Bethany Dillon, Shane and Shane
Rock: Further Seems Forever, Comeback Kid, UnderOath
Least Favorite Band:  I really dislike Britney Spears, or any secular Rap artist.
Favorite Band Member:  I have no favorite band member in our group.  Everyone is of equal value to the band. But, if I had to pick, it would be everyone.
Favorite Actor:  My favorite actor would have to be Jim Carrey. No matter how many times I watch one of his movies, he always cracks me up.
Favorite Actress:  My favorite actress would have to be Liv Tyler.  She is just so cute!!
Favorite TV Show:  My favorite TV show is “Everybody Loves Raymond.”  Every episode gets me laughing so hard.
3 Favorite Movies:  Well, here comes the genre thing again.
Action:  Blade or Spiderman or The Untouchables
Horror:  The Ring or 28 Days Later
Comedy:  Napoleon Dynamite or Dumb and Dumber
Western:  Tombstone
Drama:  Braveheart
Romance:  A Walk To Remember (I know it sounds corny, but it’s a good movie.)
Favorite Cartoon:  My favorite cartoon is “Rocko’s Modern Life”
On my XMAS list this year is... : This year on my Christmas list is no more beatings from my dad.  No, not really.  It would have to be either a Roy Noble Guitar, or Xbox.  I’ve got to get up to speed in the Video Game area now.
Favorite QUOTE:  This dialogue quoted is from Dumb and Dumber:
Lloyd:  I’ve had it with this dump. We’ve got no food, we’ve got no jobs, our pet’s heads are falling off.
Harry:  Ok, just calm down!
Lloyd:  What the #%!! Are we doing here Harry?  We’ve got to get out of this town.
Harry:  Ya, and go where?  Where are we gonna go?
Lloyd:  I’ll tell you where.  Some place warm, a place where the beer flows like wine,… where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano.  I’m talking about a little place called Aspen.
Harry:  I dunno Lloyd, the French are @$#@!%$.
My All-Star Band player picks?  The All-Star Band would consist of Bela Fleck, Sam Bush, Tony Rice, Edger Meyer, Mark O’Connor, Jerry Douglas, and Dan Tyminski.
Favorite Musician:  My favorite musician is a toss up between Sam Bush, Pat Metheny, Tony Rice, Dan Tyminski, Bela Fleck, and Steve Morse.  It’s hard to choose because I know that I will never be close to them, so they‘re all top on my list.
Favorite Video Game:  Fifa Soccer 2007, Halo 2
Favorite Book:  My favorite book is between Nightmare Academy by Frank Peretti, and Dead Air by Bob Larson.
Favorite Animal:  My favorite animal is the monkey.  I love the way they can swing from the trees, and are so agile.  Not to mention that they are so cute.
Favorite Sport:  I love to watch and play soccer.  I’m not very good at playing it, but enjoy the exercise while doing it.
Favorite Activity:  Lately, my favorite activity has been to practice.  I notice how far behind I am and want to become a somewhat acceptable player when I’m old and crusty. I also love to practice soccer dribbling and shooting, and to have worship times with my friends
Favorite Game:  My favorite game is a dice game called Five Thousand.  We’ve played it ever since I was a little kid and we are still playing it today.
Favorite Book of the Bible:  My favorite book of the Bible would have to be 1st John.  I love how it talks about love, which is one of the many areas I lack in.
Who is God?  God is ruler over my life.  He guides my decisions daily and shows unlimited amount of grace toward me.  He is my Father.
Who is Jesus?  Jesus, along with God, is ruler over my life.  He is the Holy Sacrifice.  He is the one who took my shortcomings and died for them, giving a sinner like me a second chance at eternal life.
What is important to me?  My walk with My Lord, and becoming excellent at the gifts given to me is very important to me.  I feel that it is my duty to please God by working hard at my abilities and bringing Him glory through that hard work.  School is also important to me.
What are my 3 most important life goals?  My most important life goals:
  1. Be able to play an improvisational solo well
  2. Be a virgin when I get married
  3. Leave behind a legacy pleasing to God, so that my children and those around me, and ultimately God will know that I loved my family and God, and that I wasn’t just another stagnant Christian.  I strive to be remembered as someone like Paul.
Where do I see myself in 10 years?  I see myself still playing music with some part of my family.  Possibly playing well with those players.  I also see myself with a family of my own.  I would love to have at least a wife in ten years. ANYONE INTERESTED!!!???
How I became a Christian:  I became a Christian when I was 6 years old. My mom was out at a women’s retreat with our church, and Molly, my Dad, and I slept in a fort.  The next morning when we woke up my dad asked us if we knew what it meant to be a Christian, and then asked if wanted to accept the Lord as personal savior.  Since then, I have continued my walk with my Lord, but continually fail Him everyday even though he stands by me everyday.  I know I am unworthy of his love, but I want to please Him, in the end, with my life.
