To Whom it May Concern;
I can't tell you enough about the delightful and uplifting experience we had when the Pearce Family Bluegrass Band visited our church! They came to us by way of recommendation from members in our church who were acquainted with friends of the family. Not knowing what to expect, all who were in attendance at the concert were greeted with a pleasant surprise! The Pearce's performance of unique bluegrass music was of high quality (you could certainly tell they practice their skills and have a solid work ethic) and very entertaining...but, more than that, fed our souls, as well! Indeed, it was a spiritual smorgasboard...plenty of thought-provoking words for us to contemplate beyond the evening! If their goal was to set a tone for worship and praise to our God, then, in my view, they succeeded! Sure, it was a different setting than a formal church service but one could sense the Lord's presence nonetheless...and the spiritual impact was undeniable.
In fact, I have to admit, I still find myself from time to time humming (and attempting to sing!) over and over a few of the songs that meant something to me...such as, Fix Our Eyes, He is Who, and No Good Thing. It seems the Pearce's have made great effort to coordinate their music with Scripture...and blended with their God-given talents and abilities is why I believe it has stuck with me. And not just me! I know at least one of my children, my daughter Rachel, listens to a CD we purchased often. On occasion, we will put it in when travelling in the car and (if you can picture this!) the whole family is tapping their feet, clapping their hands (except the driver, of course!) and singing along! Music is a powerful medium and when used appropriately can influence for what's good and godly...and the Pearce's, in my estimation, have found a way to accomplish that.
I also had an opportunity, as did several of our people, to interact, visit, and share with this family before and after the concert. I believe that the Pearce family's music held greater value and esteem because of the character and demeanor they portrayed. Though professional, they were not at all proud or high-minded. To the contrary, they came across to me as wholesome, sincere, down-to-earth folks. From parent to child, each was respectful and showed humble gratitude for the opportunity to serve God not themselves as well as minister to those gathered. You could detect their love for people and fellowship. This I observed during a post-concert meal when they took time to mingle and talk with any who approached them. They were certainly in no hurry to rush out and engaged in conversation as those who genuinely cared about others. All in all, this group is a "breath of fresh air" and certainly brought encouragement to those in our building that night...and who doesn't need encouragement these days?
As I close, I would highly recommend these musicians to anyone but perhaps, in particular, to Christians. This close-knit family has God-given talent and ability to bless those that hear them. Their unique bluegrass style music and wry humor draws you close...and their carefully worded lyrics with their honed, musical skills and personalities will draw you even closer to the Lord. Simply said, if they are in your area, you "must see" them! You will not regret it...indeed, I just bet you'll be tapping your feet and clapping your hands all the way to heaven!
Sincerely,
Don Valen
